Objective 1: Planning and organization of field-based tasks

 

  • · Support the Research Manager in piloting the quantitative and qualitative data collection tools
  • · Form teams of Hygiene Promoters-Data Gatherers (HPDG) and manage these teams throughout training sessions, data collection, data reporting, and data analysis
  • · Support HPDGs during training, assessing team members’ strengths and difficulties and responding accordingly
  • · Ensure that HPDGs thoroughly understand the overall aims of the study as well as its disparate procedures and processes, and that HPDGs can effectively perform their tasks
  • · Organize HPDGs in their data collection activities, leading team meetings in the mornings and team debriefings when HPDGs return from the field
  • · Assist immediate manager in designing movement plans for data collection
  • · Carry out regular field visits to spot check and guide teams on data collection and community interaction
  • · Coordinate checking and calibration of anthropometric equipment at OTP sites
  • · Review each completed data collection tool of every research team member, checking for quality and providing constructive feedback
  • · Monitor data collection progress and team dynamics, and make recommendations about improvements in procedures or suggestions for refresher trainings
  • · Assist in data checking, data analysis, and project documentation
  • · Support Data Analyst in designing database

 

Objective 2: Co-ordination

 

  • · Lead daily meetings with HPDGs before leaving for the field and daily debriefings after returning
  • · Participate in weekly review meetings and provide feedback on progress and challenges
  • · Work closely with OTP staff, facilitating pre-study briefings and continued interaction
  • · Work in collaboration with the Hygiene Promotion Supervisor to offer technical support to the data collection teams
  • · Coordinate with Nutrition Team and Community Mobilizers to ensure smooth integration of mobilization work with data collection and hygiene promotion
  • · Interface with Data Analyst and WASH Engineer as needed, to ensure technical support for data collection and hygiene promotion activities
  • · Communicate aims and objectives of the study with the community and other stakeholders to establish a good understanding of the study within the community
  • · Establish and maintain good relationships with the Tehsil and UC authorities and community leaders

 

Objective 3: Trainings

 

  • · Participate in trainings regarding quantitative and qualitative data collection, data checking, use of ODK interface, data analysis, and water quality testing
  • · Support HPDGs in these trainings
  • · Note HPDGs’ challenges in the field, and suggest relevant trainings to address these challenges
  • · Report any new security information, security-related incident, or change of the context to the line manager
  • · Respect the security guidelines as outlined in the Program Security Plan
  • · Follow the ACF charter and gender policy

 

Skills

ESSENTIAL:
• Work Experience:
• At least two years of relevant experience with NGO work
• Previous experience with team leadership or supervision for research or assessment
Other Skills and Attributes:
• Skills in communication, team management, leadership, and problem-solving
• Professional attitude and ability to interact positively with research participants and community members
• Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
• Fluency in Sindhi and English
• Ability to operate Android phones for data collection
• Ability and willingness to frequently travel to villages and spend time in the field
• Ability and willingness to work in an environment where there are physical discomforts (e.g. difficult weather conditions, noise, dust)


PREFERRED:
• At least one year of relevant experience with INGO work
• Knowledge of local area
• Experience with ODK or another electronic data collection system
• Experience with Access, Excel, and/or NVIVO
• Experience with conducting trainings in technical skills development
• Experience with projects related to nutrition and/or WASH
