Project Overview
The Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED) is currently implementing a project funded by the European Commission (EC) to support the sector in overcoming these challenges by “Improving access, quality and service delivery of the TVET sector to marginalized rural communities through innovative approaches”.
For this project ACTED has partnered with the Technology Up-gradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC) which is involved in providing technology upgrades for the country’s key industrial sectors and the Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) - a network of organizations dedicated to improving the outreach and sustainability of microfinance in Pakistan.
The aim of this project is to improve TVET Services (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) in the three Provinces of AJK, KPK and Sindh and to link trainees from TVET courses to employers as well as microfinance providers to enable them to increase their income and establish successful businesses. Curricula for the following eight courses are being revised and rolled out in all areas: Dress Making, Hand/Machine Embroidery, Building Electrician, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, Industrial Electrician, Solar Panel Technician, Motorcycle Mechanic and Generator Mechanic.
Assignment
ACTED is now recruiting two additional Community Mobilizers for TVET project North Sindh. The Community Mobiliser is responsible for supporting the implementation of all interventions matching with ACTED’s quality criteria and strategy, and for developing open, mutually respectful, and accountable relationships with the target communities. The Community Mobilizer will further build relationships with local and provincial authorities, strengthen partnerships with local TVET Centres and ensure the enrolment and attendance of a target of 3,400 students under this project.

In recent years this has included support for communities affected by floods, earthquakes and the complex emergency; Pillar 2 – Income generation and sustainable livelihoods – ACTED has extensive experience in this sector including market-oriented vocational trainings, basic skills development, as well as on and off-farm livelihood assistance; Pillar 3 – Social cohesion and access to basic services – ACTED improves access to basic services through a range of measures including support for educational institutions, community infrastructure and local governance. Social cohesion is a key component to ensuring equitable service provision. ACTED’s interventions include the establishment of local representation bodies as well as supporting the rights of women, minorities and marginalized groups; Pillar 4 – Environmental protection and community resilience – This pillar aims to mitigate some of the effects of recurrent disasters, climate change and environmental degradation.
