Assignment

Under the supervision of the Ilm Project Coordinator and with the technical support of the Principal Investigator, the Project Assistant-Research is responsible for managing the time of the field research team, ensuring that they achieve targets, interacting with other departments for the facilitation of the team, reporting regularly to the project coordinator on the progress and quality of data collection.

The ideal candidate shall have strong skills in conducting interviews, focus groups and surveys. The candidate needs to be willing and able to travel regularly to project sites and to other districts.

Functions

Objective 1 - Research and team management

  • Supervise field tests and piloting of tools and provide feedback on their improvement
  • Support field researchers in planning and conducting household surveys with families
  • Ensure quality through regular checks of data collected and if needed revisit the interviewed HH
  • Ensure that the team plans their activities to achieve the targets in survey data collection before the given deadlines
  • Work with MIS to ensure that the data is entered properly and avoid errors in data entry
  • Ensure that field researchers obtain informed consent and respect confidentiality of information received
  • Transcribe a summary of audio-interviews in English, write summary reports for qualitative interviews
  • Crosscheck the quality of qualitative data collected
  • Report regularly to the project coordinator on the progress towards targets, facilitate the team and manage activities in the field, including risks and delays with support from local area coordination and the project coordinator in Islamabad.

Objective 2 – Beneficiary accountability

· Ensure that all relations with the communities we work with are conducted in a respectful and consultative manner.

· Ensure that communities are adequately consulted and informed about ACTED programme objectives, activities, selection criteria, and methodologies

· Orient community members about ACTED's accountability mechanism and disseminate the telephone number

Objective 3 - General objectives

  • Carry out all activities according to the objectives of the programme and the beneficiary involvement strategy of ACTED.
  • Ensure on time completion of the tasks in line with the workplan;

Skills

ESSENTIAL
• At least high school completion
• Recent university graduate with strong research skills OR min. 1 year experience in community mobilization, monitoring and evaluation or as enumerator
• Good report writing skills in English
• Fluency in spoken English
• Fluency in local language
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish good working relations with target communities
DESIRED
• Experience in working on large scale household surveys.
