Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess shelter and NFI requirements for the emergency response programs in collaboration with other sectors and partners

  • Define aims and objectives of the overall shelter programme

  • Identify options to support the community for access to shelter giving consideration to materials, climate, culture and international standards.

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals for shelter and reconstruction activities.

  • Plan and manage the response for shelter

  • Ensure that gender is fully considered throughout the project cycle

  • Participate in integrated assessments with other sectors if necessary

  • Support partners throughout program implementation

  • Ensure regular monitoring and arrange evaluation


 
Skills Required:
 
CRITICAL TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Excellent working knowledge of emergency shelter and NFIs management principles and practical implementation.
Demonstrated experience in emergency re-construction activities, preferably community based
Knowledge of existing good practice and current issues in international shelter and re-construction work.
Project management experience
Experience of working through partners
Knowledge of a second major international language, highly desirable.
