The GM role combines strategic thinking with operational leadership, and is the core of improving the lives of people in our cities through the Careem service. The position has a healthy equity component. Responsibilities:
1. Manage the product in the region. Every market is different and the GM needs to make sure that our product/service evolves to meet the needs of the market.
2. Build deep relationships with stakeholders in the market, including suppliers, customers (both corporate and consumer) and regulators
3. Build and manage a strong team that is on steroids, thinks big, executes with perfection, and that can think strategically to out-compete global players with deep pockets
4. Manage P&L of the region/city and work with HQ to set targets
5. Secure big partnerships that could change the game in the city
6. Identify/develop opportunities to serve other Careem markets (through call centers, drivers, tech development), especially relevant for Pakistan.
Our ideal candidate is a person from the region with demonstrated passion to improve the lives of the people. He/she can think strategically one minute and roll-up his/her sleeves the next minute to excite drivers, turnaround upset customers, charm a partner CEO, and deliver outstanding growth. The person should have demonstrated creative/critical thinking in overcoming professional and personal challenges, should be excited about taking paths other would be afraid to take and should have led a high-performing team.
While there are no set educational or professional requirements, a solid pedigree can be a leading indicator.
