Import Manager
Responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring and controlling the documentation, clearance and receiving of imported material; ensure proper documentations related to ports, customs and banks, coordination with supplier, clearing agents, carriers and transporter with an overall objective of importing material by complying with all regulatory requirements in a cost effective way.
Accountabilities
Plan import shipments by maintaining close liaison with buying managers, suppliers and warehouse.
Negotiate with the clearing agents, transporters and shippers for obtaining best freights.
Supervise to ensure timely clearance from customs including valuation and assessment.
Look after taxes and duties related matters in compliance with applicable regulations.
Coordinate with transporters for timely lifting and movement of stock from port to warehouses.
Coordinate with Accounts and finance department for processing payments related to freights, shipments and clearance.
Stay abreast and updated with changing regulation, custom tariffs, & SROs and keep management updated on any related implications for business.
Handle nomination cargo and keep close follow-up with overseas shippers / agents.
Ensure that all LCL/FCL shipments are handled smoothly.
Required Competencies
Bank Documentation, Cross Border Trade, L/Cs, Knowledge of Customs and Duties, Coordination and Communication, Commercial Drafting, Managerial Excellence, Time Management.
Required Qualification and Experience
Graduate, preferably MBA in Supply Chain, with minimum 6 to 8 years’ experience in managing imports function including sea and dry port shipments in a retail or FMCG organization.
