About Society for Poverty Alleviation & Community Empowerment (SPACE)
Balochistan is largest province of Pakistan not only in area but also in terms of poverty incidence. Approximately 80% of the rural population of Balochistan lives below the poverty line, its literacy rate being the lowest in Pakistan, and has highest mortality rates for infants and women during delivery. This situation warrants the dire need for organization(s) with special focus on the remote rural areas.
Recent events, especially natural disasters have revealed that people of the remote regions remain the most vulnerable to potential hazards and least accessible to possible relief/response.
The Society for Poverty Alleviation and Community Empowerment (SPACE) is a Not for Profit, apolitical and Non-Government organization, working for the alleviation of poverty, education, health and awareness about Basic human rights including women and child rights.
SPACE represents the goal of the organization:
1) To increase the relevance and impact of development itself, such that it operates with awareness, sensitivity and an appropriate, participatory methodology in rural communities.
2) To safeguard the rights of women and neglected individuals of the society.
