DAI seeks technical experts for an anticipated USAID-funded project to promote sustainable economic growth in Pakistan by improving access to finance for SMEs and providing SMEs with business development services. The program aligns with Government priorities for promoting broad-based and inclusive economic growth in Pakistan. It is envisioned that the program with strengthen financial systems as well as promote private sector-led economic development. The position will be based in Islamabad

Requirements

  • Provide technical leadership on SME Finance (Equity) component
  • Participate in and provide input for SME Finance (Equity) strategic plan, including SME geographic/industry focus
  • Oversee SME Finance (Equity) activities and their full integration cross-cutting activities, ensuing timely and consistent results for program’s technical areas
  • Serve as SME Finance (Equity) liaison to USAID, Pakistani officials, counterparts, major exchanges, regulators, other donors and DAI home office management, ensuring clear communications and consistent expectations across all parties
  • Evaluate the performance of the program activities and prepare regular progress reports detailing program results against strategic objective and intermediate result indicators
  • Carry out SME Finance (Equity) mapping focusing on international best practices; work with ISE and KSE on regulatory reform; design appropriate business support services
  • Design linkages for SME Finance (Equity) to academia and the private sector; develop international market/demand driven linkages
  • Coordinate the identification, approval, hiring, and mobilization of STTAs
  • An advanced degree in business administration, public administration, economics or relevant technical field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in orchestrating successful SME equity finance development as well as work in policy, regulatory and legal reforms to strengthen SME access to finance in Pakistan, or other relevant geographies
  • Credible capital markets development and transaction experience, especially as it applies to IPOs and alternative exchanges Strong financial analysis skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior-level host-country counterparts / international institutions, academia and the private sector.
  • Previous experience with SME equity finance on USAID-funded or other donor projects.
  • Ability to work and quickly adapt in a complex environment.
  • Strong training, communications and personnel management skills.
  • Experience in Pakistan is strongly desirable
  • Proficiency in English and Urdu required; Urdu preferred.
