Functions & Responsibilities: The functions and responsibilities of the Network and System Support Manager include but are not limited to: · Apply planning, strategy and leadership skills to business challenges · Provide day-to-day co-ordination of the System Support operation for the business to ensure incidents, service requests and escalations are dealt with in a timely fashion · Increase output quality and productivity of systems and processes · Monitor systems to detect deficiencies and recommend changes and solutions · Estimate resource requirements and implementation costs · Confident communication skills, including ability to present and communicate with key members of the organization · Present management with proposals or presentations identifying system needs and outlining return on investment · Provide project status reports to senior management · Align business objectives through interactions with other department heads, external consultants, and software and hardware vendors · Supervise system support specialists, providing direction and guidance · Manage backups and disaster recovery activities; ensure that timely and accurate backups are carried out and a log of all backups is maintained · Plan and implement network security, including building firewalls, managing host security, file permissions, and file system integrity
