About Haji Abdul Hakeem Trust

HAHT (Haji Abdul hakeem Trust Regd) is a non political, non sectarian, charitable, welfare organization, established in 1985 with the sole purpose of affording uplift to the deprived segment of the people living in far flung areas of Tehsil Balakot, Distt Mansehra NWFP (Pakistan) with particular focus on village Bhangian, situated in South East of Balakot, with heights varying from 4500 feet to 10000 feet above sea level. The emphasis of the Trust was on uplift of education and providing of health facilities to the common people of the area.

Scope and Programme:
The trust, right from its inception, embarked on the following programme:-

. Providing financial assistance to deserving students who cannot afford to continue their higher studies because of lack of funds.
. Establishing libraries and book-banks for poor students, especially in the earthquake affected area.
. Helping those who have completed their education in getting suitable jobs.
. Providing basic health facilities and establishing hospitals and dispensaries for the needy and the poor
. Rehabilitating quake victims by providing them financial and medical assistance.
. Establishing educational institutions in the quake hit areas to provide quality education to the local population.

New challenges after 2005 Earthquake:
The catastrophe caused by 2005 earthquake posed new challenges to the entire national infrastructure and the resources seemed to fall much short of the yawning requirement, but the whole nation rose to
the occasion. The trust also geared up its efforts and under-took some unprecedented tasks of relief and rehabilitation despite its very meager resources.

After the 2005 earthquake, due to lack of resources it was decided to focus one of the worst hit areas "BHANGIAN" a far flung area of Tehsil Balakot, Distt Mansehra NWFP (Pakistan) situated in South East of Balakot, with heights varying from 4500 feet to 10000 feet above sea level. The emphasis of the Trust was on the uplift of education and providing of health facilities to the common people
of the area.
