JOB PURPOSE: The incumbent will be focusing on quality farmers training along with the prerequisite preparation through Farmer Field School (FFS) approach commonly known as FFS. The project will be implemented in selected area of the district. He/She responsible for delivering training, overall quality management of the agriculture FFS intervention and execution of the training according to the set plans within the stipulated time frame.

Main Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Develop FFS curriculum/training modules, reference book and training material considering the need of local area agriculture farmers.
  • Assessment of training needs related to FFS when needed and required.
  • Prepare training calendar for the project and guide the district FFS teams accordingly.
  • Prepare implementation guidelines on different training.
  • Plan and implement the quality trainings with all component under FFS approach to the farmers
  • Ensure close liaison with Community Mobilizers’ in formation of groups.
  • Ensure the participation of the farmers till the end of the training.
  • Establish strong liaison with the all Trainers/ Facilitators and provide technical guidance in implementing and monitoring FFS trainings.
  • Work in close cooperation with the Staff of NRSP, SPPAP, government line departments and others agriculture related entities.
  • Act as key facilitator of the review and planning FFS trainings and revision of FFS curriculum as per need.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance of the Trainers/ Facilitators and undertake necessary measures for their improvement.
  • Deliver the trainings to the FFS farmers along the management of all daily ongoing FFS trainings by the trainers/ facilitators.
  • Adopt and ensure the field demonstration practices while the FFS training, keeping in the view theme and purpose of FFS training.
  • Assist in preparing Annual/Quarterly Work Plan – particularly for FFS training and implementation of the project.
  • Guide and contribute FFS district teams in preparing and finalizing training plans.
  • Responsible for delivery and coordination of all trainings to be conducted under the project.
  • Monitor the quality of the trainings on day to day basis and undertake appropriate measures for improvement.
  • Provide guidance/support to the Trainers in planning and conducting basic training/refresher training.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of trainings.
  • Maintain training database.
  • Participate in different coordination meetings (District and Regional level).
  • Take lead role in identifying suitable areas/places for learning and guide for organizing exchange/exposure visits.
  • Maintain regular contact with trainers on the training and experience sharing related to FFS training.
  • Design appropriate IEC materials involving relevant stakeholders and undertake necessary actions for print and distribution.
  • Design FFS baseline survey, different monitoring and reporting tools.
  • Regularly monitor all the trainings under the project and evaluate quality of the training.
  • Carry out regular visits to FFS to see the effectiveness and taking experiences of the farmers for further improvement.
  • Reviewing the FFS implementation mechanism and undertake appropriate actions for necessary changes.
  • Assist the M&E Officer in establishing and maintaining effective monitoring and evaluation system in the project.
  • Design performance monitoring & evaluation tools for Farmers and Trainers / Facilitators.
  • Collect and analyse training reports and provide necessary feedback to the concerned.
  • Capture lessons learned, success stories/good practices on the FFS trainings, their effectiveness and results; and disseminate.
  • Prepare field visit report, training-workshop report and other ad hoc reports.
  • Assist M&E Officer in compiling monthly, Quarterly and Annual reports.
  • Formation of Farmers association based on agriculture farmers.
  • Develop and establish better linkages and collaboration with agriculture department and agriculture research station for getting useful scientific information, inputs and technologies.
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Measurable Outputs and Performance Indicators

  • Number of plans developed and executed accordingly.
  • Number of Curriculum for FFS training developed, reviewed and finalised.
  • Number of trainings to FFS farmers /workshops organized and conducted.
  • Percentage of work time utilized for the field visits/field monitoring.
  • Number of batch wise training plans developed and implemented.
  • Number of planning/review/coordination meeting attended and supported.
  • Coordination with different Govt. line departments, local service providers, input suppliers, NRSP, SPPAP and other market actors.
  • Number of modules/tools/formats developed.
  • Monitoring and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Number of reports prepared.
  • Number of ToT for Trainers/ Facilitators provided.
  • Number of Trainers/ Facilitators developed.
  • Number of project staffs trained on FFS.

Required Qualification and Skills:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is Master in Agriculture.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in training and extension activities with good track record. He/ She should have experience on curriculum development related to FFS, planning, programming, implementation and monitoring of FFS. Must be capable of providing overall technical guidance in FFS approach and capacity development of the trainers / Co trainers and the farmers.
  • Good skill in developing training modules and facilitating as imparting trainings.
  • Experienced in guiding Trainers to facilitate trainings to the Farmers.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Report writing and proposal writing and presentation delivery skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
