Position Purpose

The Buyer will be responsible for negotiating contracts for the procurement of required materials and services from suppliers. The person in this role will establish strategies to ensure uninterrupted supplier & services while strengthening the supplier relationships. Working independently, the Buyer will coordinate procurement activities with various departments and divisions to acquire goods & services in a cost effective and timely manner.

Principal Responsibilities

·         Develop procurement specifications and performance test requirements by working with internal stakeholders and determining company requirements.

·         Regularly review contracts & POs status for all suppliers in remit

·         Review, interpret, implement and communicate material demand forecast.

·         Review, administer and manage purchase orders/contracts and delivery commitments to designated suppliers as necessary to support the company’s operations and growth plan.

·         Continually review the overall “value” offered by existing suppliers and ensure that the Company’s procurement remains competitive.

·         Actively participate in the creation, negotiation, and management of supplier agreements – covering cost, quality, and delivery terms.

·         Assist with regular re-negotiations of terms of business/service agreements and performance evaluation with suppliers, taking corrective action as required.

·         Source new suppliers and assess their capabilities & competencies

·         Leverage best practice supplier selection techniques to identify a core supply base able to offer lowest total cost of ownership, high quality product, and on-time delivery performance.

·         Using relationship management expertise to resolve quality, service level & price escalations

·         Administer supplier performance management and improvement efforts, including leading regular supplier business reviews.

·         Document all work according to established procedures and guidelines and prepare or assist in preparing various reports as required

·         Act as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement related problems.

·         Collaborates with and support internal stakeholders for all procurement needs and ensure the demand from internal customers is satisfied.

 .         Collect and analyze relevant market information to maintain understanding of operations, cost drivers and market dynamics of services.

·         Acts as point of contact for suppliers within assigned scope of responsibility and manages day-to-day supplier relationships, including service, delivery, quality, and billing issues.

·         Establish cost saving proposals including: make-versus-buy analysis, alternative sourcing to reduce freight cost, and evaluate material cost from overseas suppliers to local suppliers in order to meet customer cost initiatives.

·         Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors like end of life product, sole source constraint, geographic conditions and supplier consolidation.

·         Ensure the loss prevention is covered through HSE aspects in the procurement process.

·         Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
