Position Description: The OSP Engineer is responsible for all aspects of outside plant implementation services in support of telecom companies.The OSP Engineer will need to understand basic outside plant circuit design, transmission and distribution procedures, cable placement and splicing practices and cable protection.The OSP Engineer will also need to understand and apply general telecommunication industry standards and practices as well as government codes and regulations. The Outside Plant Engineer will: Apply engineering design standards to underground and aerial pole line cable plant - Execute work orders for outside plant facilities while meeting quality, time and budget constraints
- Visually identify, inspect, and record equipment and structures in the ROW
- Perform field audits of existing outside plant activities
- Collaborate with others (civil authorities, clients, contractors, project managers, other engineers, designers, drafters, administration) to devise best network solutions
- Analyze and produce cost effective design solutions

Requirements: - Two to Four years experience with fiber implementation, FTTH implementation, copper cable implementation, coax cable implementation, pole line implementation, and buried and underground deployment
- Proven ability to deal with governing authorities and their requirements, negotiate with private land owners and provide instruction and guidance as needed to contractors
- Must be computer literate especially Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Preferences/Skills: - Knowledge of CAD and/or Microsoft Project and/or GIS platform is a plus
- Strong technical knowledge and skills
- Ability to occasionally learn and operate customer based proprietary software and other computer systems to expedite and facilitate the work order process
- Knowledge of construction and planning procedures
- Ability to read and comprehend engineering schematics
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Basic financial skills to assist in making sound business decisions
