Job DescriptionExperienced Senior SQL Database Developer is required having responsibility for working with stakeholders to define, develop, document and maintain technical specifications as well as design, build, test, debug, document, and maintain custom database applications, reports, and database queries using a variety of technologies.
The selected Sr. Database developer will be part of database team and play a role in the analysis, design, implementation, and support of a series of applications for a Monitoring system. She/he will be chiefly responsible for ongoing software development for a business line, interfacing with users and management in the planning of major functionality, analyzing business functional requirements to determine the scope of work, evaluating available application alternatives to support business needs, and managing resource planning/constraints. Discretion and independent judgment are required on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- 90 percent PL/SQL development work and 10 percent Database Administration work
- Experience Developing Database Applications In PL/SQL-Triggers, Packages, Functions, Procedures, Complex SQL
- Responsible for the complete life cycle of database and reporting development process.
- Responsible for working with stakeholders to define, develop, document and maintain technical specifications as well as design, build, test, debug, document, and maintain custom database applications, reports, and database queries using a variety of technologies.
- Establishes application, database and report design specifications as necessary through discussion with stakeholders
- Analyze and tune database queries and design to improve performance
- Identify, analyze, and solve problems related to database, application, or reporting in thorough, timely manner
- Must have work experience working in Unix/Linux environment. RAC experience is a plus.
- Some Shell or Perl experience.
- Advanced Queue knowledge
- SQL Query tuning using different tools. Clear understanding of query plan.
- Excellent problem solving, issue identification, analytical and technical documentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Good written and verbal communication skill.
- Understand SDLC process and tools, agile program management concepts and version control.
- Advanced Experience in Oracle, SQL and PostgreSQL as well as Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) data ingestion.
- Experience developing requirements, designing, developing, building, and analyzing database management systems to include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation, database performance optimization and configuration management.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL, ability to apply SQL creatively to a wide variety of business requirements.
- Understands complex programming techniques including, but not limited to, programming languages, software development standards, methods and tools.
- Developing PL/SQL Packages including all associated stored procedures and functions.
- Strong understanding of Software development lifecycle and Secure Code development
- Leadership experience for small to medium sized technical teams
- Excellent customer service and communication skills as well as the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Knowledge working in a Linux-based environment including the ability to develop automation and administrative tools with a scripting language such bash, Python or Perl, additional skills in Windows and MacOS is preferred
- Experience with modern query languages and open source and commercial databases including MySQL, Oracle and MSSQL PL/SQL and shell scripting
- Software development experience beyond database development
- Database Administration experience
- GUI Design experience
- Familiarity with Subversion tools (ex. TortoiseSVN)
- Familiarity with PHP
- Minimum of three years of reporting development preferred
