Background
The research project ‘entitled Creating Opportunities through Mentoring, Parental Involvement and Safe Spaces (COMPASS) will generate dynamic learning to strengthen the evidence base on the most effective interventions that address violence against adolescent girls in humanitarian crises. This research will include a mix of qualitative and quantitative approaches to establish a foundation for good programming that supports adolescent girls’ safe and healthy transition into adulthood, to improve prevention and response to violence against adolescent girls in humanitarian context in Pakistan’s KP and FATA, for adolescent girls, ages 12 to 19.
This project includes a robust research agenda to generate knowledge on effective and supportive responses for adolescent girls in humanitarian contexts where they are largely invisible and under-served.
We are seeking a translator to support the learning process, specifically in translating enquiry tools from Urdu to Pashto. The translator will report directly to Research Officer in the Research Unit WPE and ultimately to Senior Research Officer, and be tasked with the translations of Questionnaires and Consent Forms within the allotted time frame.
Responsibilities:
The translator will be responsible for:
1. Producing accurate verbal translations and audio recording of Urdu text to Pashto following the original document format
2. Ensuring Pashto language excellence and proofreading, including vocabulary, expression and grammar as well as all relevant terminology.
3. Ensuring quality check and proofreading of translation and that no verbal errors are left in the final audio recordings.
4. The assignment will be done remotely and will be submitted in hands at office.
5. The translator is obligated to work within the required deadlines and be available to
Research unit WPE for comments and corrections.
The translation submitted to the IRC under this TOR is the property of the IRC and cannot be submitted, distributed to or used by any other party, unless with a prior written permission from the IRC.
Details of tools and consent forms content:
The survey questionnaire is around 2400 words and about 9 pages. Three consent form is around 2757 words and about 6 pages.
Deliverables and Timeline
The consultant will be responsible for the following deliverables over an anticipated period of eleven days (11). Specific deadlines will be start form the day of signing of MOUs.

Quality Assurance
To ensure quality control, the consultant will be expected to participate in briefing meetings with the IRC as needed to monitor the progress of the assignment and to ensure the timelines are met. The Consultant shall make itself available to the IRC as when desired by the Client to review and discuss the progress.
Mode of Payment
The payment for rendering the services will be linked with the deliverables and shall be released after completion and acceptance of quality work by IRC Research team. Tax will be deducted as per Govt. policy
