|
The Protection Officer, under the supervision of Senior. Protection officer, is primarily responsible for IDP protection in targeted Areas. They will work in close collaboration of UN agencies, govt. authorities and relevant stakeholders to make sure that affected population rights are fully protected under national and international laws Protection Monitoring: - Provide advice to IDPs on civil documentation and legal matters on a daily basis (including advice on issues relating to acquiring identification documents, such as computerized national identity cards (CNICs), passports, birth, death and marriage certificates, as well as other official documents such as Automated Teller Machine cards).Record each reported case of missing documentation and ensure that the persons concerned are fully aware of how to make a new claim and are able to follow the required procedure.
- Monitor referral and assistance cases in order to ensure that beneficiaries receive the services they require
- As required, provide direct assistance to EVIs (e.g. where vulnerable individuals, particularly women, who are unable to complete the process of obtaining official documentation alone, assist them alone, in submitting the application to the relevant authorities).
- Provide advice to IDPs who need access the police and judiciary systems and other service providers within the camp.
- Provide updated information on legal matters to Information Officer as new issues arise and on an ad hoc basis upon request
Referral and Case Management: - Record each incident and protection concern separately using the IRCs new reporting format, and respond appropriately either by providing direct advice or assistance or by referring beneficiaries to appropriate service providers (in the case of incidents). Follow-up as necessary, maintaining clear records of all referrals, follow-ups and case outcomes.
- Refer specific protection-related incidents identified during monitoring (such as theft or physical violence, denial to assistance and/or services, and discrimination related to assistance and/or services) to appropriate service providers, prioritizing EVIs.
Skills: - Excellent English and good knowledge of Local language is essential
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Knowledge of national law and/or human rights principles
- Computer skills including MS- Office
- Ability to handle multiple tasks; proven self-initiative and problem solving abilities
- Willingness to travel within Pakistan
- A commitment to protecting human rights.
PREFERENCE: 6 month working experience
