Job Description:

The Senior Community Mobilization officer, under the supervision of Protection Service Field Manager, is primarily responsible for IDP protection in targeted Areas. They will work in close collaboration of UN agencies, govt. authorities and relevant stakeholders to make sure that affected population rights are fully protected under national and international laws.

Technical Oversight/Staff Supervision

  • Monitor, supervise and facilitate the implementation of Project activities, including appropriate documentation and management of Community services.
  • Prepare reports on project activities to Field Services Manager when required.
  • Ensure that the database records are regularly and timely updated
  • Provide systematic analysis of collected data to highlight broad trends in cases/ and general concerns. In the event of repeated, prevalent or serious issues, refer to relevant IRC staff for advocacy for further service provisions and on other advocacy matters.
  • Supervise and assist the Community mobilization officers in their activities. Conduct regular meetings with the SC’s, Shura and IDP’s for identification of general concerns and dissemination of information where necessary.

Capacity building

  • Support Capacity Building Officers to arrange and conduct training for Sectoral Committees, Shura and local NGOs/service providers.
  • Support Capacity Building Officers to organize and conduct staff trainings

Coordination and Advocacy

  • Support Field Services Manager to organize and conduct a monthly coordination meeting with Grand Shura members and three meetings with SCs (one for each sector with SC representatives from each of eight phases), with participation of sector agencies and NGOs/CBOs, to provide updates and share information, as well as seeking input from these stakeholders on the IRC Community Services activities and protection concerns in the camp. Establish Coordination with camp management, camp security, community elders and IDP committees, and other stakeholder for addressing identified concerns and strengthening coordination.
  • Coordinate with relevant sectors to ensure the availability of necessary services for the IDPs, and specifically for vulnerable groups, both staying in the camp and returning to their areas of origin.
  • Coordinate with relevant sectors to ensure effective utilization and maintenance of all facilities available in each block and sector of the camp.
Skills:
  • Excellent English and good knowledge of Local language is essential
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of national law and/or human rights principles
  • Computer skills including MS- Office
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks; proven self-initiative and problem solving abilities
  • Willingness to travel within Pakistan;
  • A commitment to protecting human rights.

PREFERENCE:

1 year of working experience with UN agencies, International NGO or Institution.
