Overview:

The Nutrition Technical Officer (NTO) will work to ensure the implementation nutrition activities at the district level for the MCHIP Sindh Project. The NTO will be responsible for working with the Nutrition Manager to meet MCHIP project and work plan objectives for Years 3 through 5. The Nutrition Officer will report to the MCHIP Nutrition Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to MCHIP district teams in managing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating MCHIP district nutrition activities.
  • Participate with nutrition working groups and ongoing coordination with stakeholders in the district.
  • Coordinate with partner organizations and key stakeholders to plan and implement nutrition strategies and plans of action in the district.
  • Support LHW-Mother Support Groups in the community and other community-based nutrition activities in the district i-e nutrition sessions & cooking demonstrations etc.
  • Develop district based Training plans and training arrangement at district to ensure availability of IEEC material, training banner and stationary.
  • IEEC material, training banner and stationary.
  • Submission of training report with attendance sheets and pre and post-tests.
  • Ensure timely provision of breastfeeding corner material i-e privacy sheets and chairs.
  • Ensure best utilization of breastfeeding corners at all MNCH centers.
  • Daily monitoring and coaching of breastfeeding corners activities.
  • Updated mapping of district on standard 4 W matrix reporting format.
  • Ensure every monitoring checklists and submission to nutrition manager.
  • Coordination with LHW focal person and ensure submission of timely reports and brief.
  • Any other task assigned by Supervisor.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Master in Social Sciences/MPH ,MBBS, preferably with experience in community-based nutrition programs.
  • Training in nutrition (B.S. or at least certificates from training courses in nutrition; for example, in infant and young child nutrition).
  • At least 5 years of experience in the implementation of public health and/or nutrition programs at the district level. Prior experience of working with INGO will be preferred.
  • Demonstrated management, planning and supervisory skills.
  • Experience building staff capacity, working in a team, and working with private and public sector partners, particularly government partners in service delivery.
  • Ability to think critically, strategically, and operationally.
  • Strong advocacy skills.
  • Excellent English writing and communication skills.
  • Urdu and Sindh speaking skills required.
  • Computer literacy in word processing, and spreadsheet software packages.
  • Ability to travel within the district up to 30% of time.
