Overview:
Jhpiego is implementing multiple projects focusing on MNH and FP/RH services in Punjab & KPK. Therefore Jhpiego seeks a Senior Technical Advisor. The position is described below and is based in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical and technical lead support in MNH , Family Planning and Reproductive Health, including maternal and neonatal health projects.
- Provide expert guidance to reproductive health/fp programs with confidence and proficiency in best practices and new technical strategies and approaches in areas of expertise.
- Provide support in technical capacity-building sessions.
- Provide managerial and technical oversight and guidance to the general family planning /postpartum family planning project.
- Ensure that project activities are technically sound, evidence-based, and responsive to the needs.
- Provide clinical assistance in conducting clinical trainings (i.e., postpartum intrauterine contraceptive device, basic emergency obstetric care and comprehensive emergency obstetric care components).
- Actively participate in technical supportive supervision, monitoring and reporting of training activities. Review and support the monitoring and evaluation team in managing the monthly reporting of FP/PA/PPFP data collection, analysis and reporting system.
- Support the team in operational research under the David and Lucile Packard foundation project “strengthening postpartum family planning in Pakistan”.
- Provide technical support to the field teams.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to technical and program staff in planning and implementing data collection systems and activities and leading capacity development of program staff and project counterparts at all levels.
- Lead documentation of project results, successes, challenges and lessons learned, including timely reporting to donors.
- Write/review technical components of materials, publications, and progress and annual reports and track monitoring and evaluation budgets related to project and activity budgets.
- Frequent travel for technical and programmatic support within Pakistan
- Communicate actively and regularly with all technical staff who work in support of projects in the country.
Required Qualifications:
- Medical Doctor with MPH or equivalent
- Outstanding project management skills demonstrated through strong management experience in donor-funded initiatives; management experience with USG-funded projects is an added advantage
- At least seven years of mid- to senior-level experience designing and implementing field-based programs focused on maternal, newborn and child health; capacity building; and service delivery improvement
- Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop technical capacity in individuals and institutions in the areas maternal, newborn and child health, and performance and quality improvement
- A strong understanding of the Pakistani health care system; must have strong contacts in the Pakistan health sector
- Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
- Strong clinical background and experience
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills in English
- Pakistan nationals strongly encouraged.
