Pakistan’s leading job website, ROZEE.PK, partnered with the Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA) to organize the largest job fair in Pakistan’s history, on Tuesday August 16th, 2005 at the Pearl Continental Hotel, from 10:30 am to 9:00 pm.
Over 11,000 people registered to attend the event which was promoted almost exclusively through ROZEE.PK’s online database of job seekers. Due to capacity limitations, participation was limited to 5,000 attendees who visited company booths and workshops during the event. The record turnout allowed the 22 exhibiting companies to collect hundreds of resumes and make on-the-spot offers. It is estimated that over 100 job offers will be made as a result of the job fair.
The job fair featured workshops and counseling sessions given by human resource and recruiting heads of some of Pakistan’s leading employers including The Resource Group (TRG), Standard Chartered Bank, Warid Telecom, UBL, Bank Alfalah, Unilever and Intel, among others. The job fair also featured company booths where job seekers participated in on-the-spot interviews.
In addition to a warm response from the industry, relevant government ministries have lauded the P@SHA Job Fair 2005 as a step in the right direction. “A fair like this helps to emphasize how much progress has been made in this sector, and the kinds of opportunities that the IT and Telecom sector holds,” said Federal Minister of IT and Telecommunications Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari. Similarly, Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, Federal Minister and Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) embraced the event by saying, “The P@SHA Job Fair 2005, in partnership with job search engine ROZEE.PK should provide good opportunities to our talented youth.”
The fair was sponsored by United Bank Ltd. (UBL), Punjab IT Board (PITB) and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB).
