Main Responsibilities
The Senior Officer (graduate programmes) contributes to the effective management of the activities of the Registrar Office ensuring continuity in its smooth day-to-day, term-to-term and year-to-year administration according to the established calendar of events, and in accordance with University policies and procedures.
Advising
· Advises faculty members, staff and students on policies and administrative procedures concerning graduate students, to ensure that they are interpreted and implemented consistently across the Faculty. Disseminates information to students (e.g. changes in policies and procedures).
· Screens all requests, decides on the appropriate course of action (e.g. provides information on University regulations and procedures, redirects students to academic advisors.
This requires an extensive knowledge of the University policies and procedures and requires the incumbent to exercise considerable judgment, and be able to maintain strict confidentiality
Program/Plan Approval
· Provides support to all committees of which the Registrar/Deputy Registrar are the members (e.g. sets up meetings, distributes agenda materials and minutes, records and prepares the minutes, actions the minutes).
