Job Description:
PROJECT AND PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

1. Respect all MSF principles and guidelines

o To adhere to the MSF principles of independence and neutrality when carrying out all aspects of position

o Adherence to MSF clinical guidelines, including those related to prescribing, treatment plan, as outlined in the Clinical Guidelines and Essential Drugs documents

o Adherence to in-place clinical treatment protocols and pathways developed specifically for Hangu project, for those presentations not detailed within the previous documents

2. Respect to all patients and their support people at all times

o Treats all patients and support persons presenting to the ER in a professional, competent, non-judgmental manner.

o Respects the right of patients to make decisions related to their health and treatment plan, including the right to refuse treatment; however, is not persuaded by patient demands to engage in inappropriate medical care such as the prescription of non-indicated medications or the ordering of unnecessary investigations.

o Being vigilant about respect for medical confidentiality.

3. Responsible to work as a member of the medical team

o Performing a detailed consultation, including appropriate physical examination, in accordance with MSF protocols and standard, acceptable medical practice

o Documenting observations on the health card

o Informing the patient about his disease, explaining the treatment, including specific instructions as to how to follow the prescribed treatment, and assuring that the information was understood well

o Managing and referring emergency cases to the proper location in collaboration with the ER Expat doctor.

o Completing detailed referral information in the case of patients transferred to other facilities

o Transmitting to the ER expat doctor all problems linked to his activities and quickly informing him/her in case of medical error

o Informing quickly the ER Expat doctor in case of mass casualties or communicable disease as measles, meningitis, cholera

o To provide a proper handover to incoming colleagues when patients remain under care in the ER at the end of his shift. This will include a detailed description of the patient's history, initial and most recent physical examination findings, and treatments completed and prescribed

o To oversee, along with nursing staff, accurate entries of treatments rendered to patients within the ER register.

4. To be present and on time in the ER during working hours.

o Be available, at any time during the shift inside the ER.

o To participate in all scheduled shifts on a rotating basis of daytime and night time shifts

o To be flexible and to be able to work according to the needs of the project.

5. Participate in meetings and additional medical activities as requested by the Medical Referent.

o Working in collaboration with the medical team and participating at the continuous training of the staff (including attendance at training activities).

o Encouraging exchange of information in his field of activity.

o Participating in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, verifying their validity
