Job Description:
POSITION: Health and Nutrition Educator

LOCATION: Peshawar, Pakistan

LINE MANAGER: District Nutritionist or Medical officer/ or
substitute in his/her absence.

START DATE:
As soon as possible

DURATION:
5 months

Overall Objectives:

  • Rapid/detailed assessment of infant and Young Child feeding practices in mothers/care-givers at the SFP/OTPs in the Health facilities and Support the development and implementation of a sustainable Health & Nutrition promotion programme in the targeted health facilities with working linkages with the respective communities.
  • To coordinate effectively SFP/ OTP center activities (with a focus on Breastfeeding & IYCF Education sessions) with the Outreach workers/ Social mobilizers & LHWs Program, where applicable. One to One tailored counseling sessions for all mothers with children under 24 months and maintenance of IYCF integration within all CMAM components

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct Simple Rapid Assessment (SRA) of all child feeding eligible mothers with children under 24 months that attend the OTP/SFP sites at the health facilities.
  • Conduct detailed advance assessment of child feeding practices in women that require additional support or reveal difficulties.
  • Perform close monitoring of all beneficiaries, including follow up checks with community mobilizers and summaries of total number of PLWs attended.
  • Maintain clear communication with all other CMAM staff regarding the status of beneficiaries, including OTP LHV, outreach workers and community mobilizer.
  • Identify the areas of need for Health & Nutrition promotion and education within targeted communities through contact with community representatives and assessment of knowledge and practices amongst clinics attendants.
