The PHC technologist is directly answerable to unit/facility in-charge & through him to MS.
- Ensure the maintenance of medicine and medical equipment stock and storage as per standard drug management guidelines
- Keep and maintain the daily pharmacy register.
- Prepare and keep daily, weekly and monthly consumption documents
- Follow the advices of the medical doctor in filling out medical prescriptions.
- Maintain the stock register and the minimum stock level of medicine as per need
- Provide regular updates of medical stock, drug consumption and monthly requests to the Medical Doctor and to the pharmacy Supervisor
- Provide feedback to the medical doctor/medical supervisor in issues related to the drug management, expiry dates, stock and monthly supply of the health facility.
- Ensure quality control of medicine and medical equipment in the health facility
- Provide health promotion training to the community during drug disbursement/ dispensing.
- Conducts static vaccination sessions in HFs as scheduled including outreach activities in the field.
- Administers vaccines correctly in accordance with guidelines, and maintains strict aseptic techniques.
- Reports and record measles cases and conduct ring immunization, mopping up and or any other supplemental immunization activities/campaigns
- Liaise closely with LHV, LHS, LHWs and other staff in order to avoid missed opportunities (including screening of cards) for immunization of children and women, children to be followed up on due list and defaulter tracing. Also coordinates for proper birth recording/reporting and growth monitoring activities in the facilities with the teams.
- Maintains accurate record/chart of monitoring coverage of the target population
- Maintains accurate EPI records including daily and permanent registers, and additional records on due and defaulters (prepare and update lists on monthly basis)
- Provides counseling to the care givers on the preventive and promotive health aspects of the vaccines, vaccination schedules, when to return for the other shot of vaccine etc.
- Receives vaccines from the field office and ensures that the cold chain is correctly maintained to the point of actual immunization in accordance to standardized guidelines
- Prepares monthly statistical report, vaccine consumption/wastage rates and submits in timely manner.
- Ensures that used syringes, needles and all vaccination vials/ampoules are stored and disposed-off as per protocols.
- Fulfill any other tasks related to his/her work as assigned by medical doctor/medical supervisor.

Since 2008 Merlin has also been implementing a large-scale development project focusing on malaria control in Baluchistan, FATA and KPK, this has included acting as the procurement agent for Global Fund partners in Pakistan. Merlin is a major health player in Pakistan, working in close coordination and collaboration with all involved stakeholders. Merlins main objective in Pakistan has been to improve the health status of the population most affected by natural disasters, diseases and conflict. Merlin is committed to longer-term programming in Pakistan and plans to continue to operate to meet the health needs of the Pakistani population. In response to the July monsoon flooding disaster and subsequent health crisis, Merlin mobilized health and medical teams to lead a rapid emergency response to meet escalating health needs of flood-affected and displaced communities. Merlin has continued its regular programmes and extended coverage to communities affected by the flood; currently reaching approximately 2,000,000 people through the provision of essential health services, community management of malnutrition and communicable disease surveillance and management. Merlin is currently operating in Swat, Buner, Nowshera, and Charsadda districts in KPK province and Muzaffargarh in Punjab province. Merlin's model of care is based on the provision of an integrated package of health and nutrition services via static and mobile outreach services (currently supporting a total of 38 static health facilities and 26 mobile clinics). Merlin also currently supports seven diarrheal treatment units across all operational districts. Merlin has expanded its malaria control operations to six flood affected districts in Baluchistan and KPK provinces. This has been done through the initiation of malaria case management, surveillance and outbreak response in disease endemic parts of the country in partnership with the provincial malaria directorate. Merlin's malaria programs are therefore now reaching a total of 11 million people across 16 districts in KPK, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Baluchistan.
