JOB PURPOSE:

  • To provide support to response project team in logistics, purchasing, storage and transport arrangement for supplies to distribution to beneficiaries

DIMENSIONS:

  • Carry out tasks within guidelines laid down by managers / supervisor.
  • Tasks are usually routine but will require the use of initiative and/or basic planning.
  • Responsible for the proper use of equipment by others.
  • May be responsible for supervising one or more support staff, including basic planning of day to day work.
  • Required to gather and give information to supervisors, managers and occasionally members of the public.
  • Impact wider than own team/processes.
  • Contributes to improvements in processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all goods are stored and packed safely and securely.
  • Ensure that stock levels are recorded correctly on bin cards.
  • Check deliveries of goods for quality and quantity, and record details on goods received forms.
  • Organize the manual loading and unloading of vehicles when necessary.
  • Compile regular stock reports and stock reconciliations, and ensure that discrepancies in stock levels are reported to the line manager.
  • Providing support and information on areas of work covered in their remit.
  • Implements OXFAM Policies to manage warehouse.
  • Day to day planning in line with departmental priorities.
  • Organize all logistic related chores, including Warehousing, communications as well as the related logistic and administrative procedures for project operations.
  • Ensure proper management of warehouse including security and maintenance of warehouse inventory system including regular reporting of inventory.
  • Establish and maintain good contacts with suppliers and other organisations.
  • Customs clearance on behalf of OGB imported goods
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned by the warehouse logistician.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

  • Bachelors with good knowledge and experience of storekeeping techniques, including basic administration.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Ability to keep clear and concise records.
  • Preferably 2 years experience of warehousing
  • Effective communication Skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Commitment to issues of gender, diversity.
  • Computer skills will be required as this candidate will be trained in the use of Oxfam’s Supply Chain Management Software System
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work in remote areas.
