Job Overview

The Monitoring Officer under the supervision of the M&E specialist will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of projects. He/she will also be responsible to ensure program is implemented in line with project policies, donor regulations and best practices thus achieving the program goals and objectives

Major Responsibilities:

  • Design, strengthening and management of the project monitoring system.
  • Support project staff and partners in structuring Monitoring system.
  • Draft Midterm monitoring evaluation report.
  • Supervise professional areas of research information management and grant proposal administration
  • Under the guidance of the M&E specialist, Monitoring Officer works with the program team to collect store, manage data and prepare and complete monthly monitoring forms on- time and accurately
  • Development/ improvement of the data/information management tools including reporting formats and database for overall assessment of the respective sectors.
  • Assist program team with donor reporting.
  • Assist in preparing periodical program updates/reports.
  • Carry out regular onsite monitoring of projects as directed by M&E specialist, project team and Technical Coordinators and provide on spot necessary guidance;
  • Maintain & monitor financial records and ensure project policies and donor regulations are adhered to.
  • Keep track of all projects to ensure timely completion
  • Maintain proper filing system of monitoring and data related documents.
  • Carry out such other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Participate in relevant trainings as and when required.

  • Oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with mid and high level partner contacts, the host government, and the local communities.  
  • Ability to apply regulations and procedures to daily work requirements
  • Excellent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet programs and data base management
  • He/she exercises initiative and independence in performing standard duties in full compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and procedures.

Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
