- A Linux System Administrator position will be focusing on effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems’ hardware and software and related infrastructure.
- Monitor and respond appropriately to outages and alerts, escalating issues as needed.
- Implement necessary patches, hot fixes, service packs, cumulative updates, and upgrades to meet security compliance and maintain application integrity
- Ensure application availability by monitoring hardware and software capacity and function.
- You will also be involved in technical research and development towards platform stability and progress. Also you will need to ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards, enabling coworkers and clients.
- You will have full ownership of the following systems: virtualized Linux and software systems that support infrastructure. Responsibilities on these systems include provisioning, operations and support, and maintenance to ensure continual innovation.
Required Skills:
- Extensive Linux (Ubuntu) systems administration experience
- Must have experience with virtualized environments (KVM, vSphere etc.).
- Ability to configure and administer Web Servers (Apache, Tomcat, nginx, etc.)
- Ability to configure and administer Nagios and other network management and monitoring systems.
- Experience of configuring Load Balancing (haproxy ) , Firewalls (iptables) and Global Traffic Management.
- Knowledge of installation, configuration, backup and administration of MYSQL and NOSQ(MongoDB) Database Servers
- Understanding of SVN, GIT, and other source code management systems.
- LAMP setup and troubleshoot
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP administration a must.
- Ability to automate routine administration tasks through the use of crons and Shell scripting
- Knowledge of RPM packaging and deployment.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of programming languages i.e php, python is plus
