Major job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Remote maintenance and performance tuning of dedicated servers running Linux and FreeBSD operating systems.
- Managing AWS and other Cloud Services.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
- Perform daily backup operations, Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Monitor network to ensure 24x/7 availability to all running systems.
- Can Handle highly confidential information/material.
Skills
- Bind, SAMBA, NFS, Squid and SVN.
- Command on recompiling/upgrading FreeBSD/Linux Kernel
- Excellent scripting skills (Perl, Bash, Python etc.)
- MySQL database administration.
- Installation, administration and securing web servers e.g Apache, Lighthttpd and Nginx.
- Web & Database load balancing (Load Balancers, HA Proxy).
- Web Application Optimization (CDN, Varnish etc.)
- Mail Servers e.g. Postfix, Sendmail etc.
- Firewalls (Cisco, PF, IPTables, Fortinet etc.)
- Virtualization Platforms (VMWARE, Oracle VirtualBox etc.)
- Familiarity with SPF, SenderID and DomainKeys Implementation.
