Job Description:

ROLE PURPOSE:

The overall objective of this position is to lead district IMNCH team and assist the Provincial Project Manager IMNCH and IMNCH Coordinator in the preparation of DIP, Work plan and reports. Also develop and implement capacity building and community mobilization strategies and to coordinate with Department of Health, Population Welfare and all IMNCH partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support to the MNCH supervisors on a daily basis, ensuring that activities are implemented in an appropriate manner
  • Mobilizing community members including both men and women on MNCH
  • Revitalization and formation of community support groups and mobilizing these groups to conduct regular meetings on MNCH issues
  • Identification of vulnerable women and men and streamlining towards MNCH facilities
  • Sensitization of local community elders and influentials in MNCH;
  • Advocacy on MNCH facilities and ensure the participation of all groups of women and children, especially those who are most vulnerable
  • Assist the MNCH Supervisors in using Mass Media to raise awareness on MNCH
  • Assist the MNCH Supervisors in building capacities of local NGOs and CBOs in MNCH
  • Working in partnership with LHWs and local NGOs/CBOs in mobilizing community members on MNCH
  • Assist the MNCH Supervisors in solving problems arising in the communities
  • Ensure that equipment inventories are up to date and that replacement needs are highlighted
  • Ensure that health and safety regulations are understood and followed and that health and safety incidents are logged
  • Ensure adherence to the Health policy and reporting procedures

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Demonstrated 2 years of overall experience; and minimum of 1 year of working in Maternal & New Born Child Health;
  • Experience of working in Maternal & New Born Child Health;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
Knowledge of the local language is a must
