Responsibilities:
- Co lead Education Cluster along with counterpart from UNICEF
- Ensure that all the meetings of the cluster take place timely and all the meeting norms are adhered to
- Ensure active engagement of education cluster in the humanitarian response, including ensuring a fair share of education projects in the Humanitarian Response Plans and Flash Appeals
- Coordinate with all education cluster partners and ensure that all the key issues surrounding education in emergencies are highlighted in the cluster meetings
- Develop effective plans in coordination with all cluster partners to address any issues that are tabled in the meetings
- Have effective liaison with the government agencies including NDMA/PDMAs, donors,other UN Agencies and other stakeholders for highlighting education issues and seeking their solutions
- Work closely with UNICEF to develop and execute a capacity development plan for all the cluster partners and ensure that all cluster members fully understand the concepts of emergency education based on INEE
- In cases of emergencies, have regular liaison with the provincial clusters and ensure that all the policies are uniform and that education cluster comes up with a unified approach to the response
- Identify key areas of advocacy for education; develop advocacy plans with UNICEF and cluster partners and ensure proper execution of these plans
- Develop education preparedness plan according to any upcoming emergency and ensure that such plans are followed and implemented properly
- Make sure that all the information regarding any available funding opportunities are disseminated to all cluster partners and support them in terms of refining their strategies in line with the cluster strategy
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 5 years of experience of humanitarian education programs
- Advanced degree in education or related field
- Full knowledge of cluster system
- Any past experience of cluster coordination will be preferred
- Negotiation, Networking and Coordination skills
- Willingness and ability to change work practices and hours with incoming surge teams in the event of an emergency
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Good organization skills
- Computer literacy with strong knowledge of MS Office
- Fluent spoken & written English language
- Ability to work independently to a high professional standard
- A service-oriented attitude
- Sensitive to the cultural & political environment
- Knowledge of Pakistan and the respective region
