Summary of position
The Senior Program Officer Media will work closely with the Country Director to develop and implement SFCGs media projects. Specifically, the Senior Program Officer Media will be responsible for designing and managing communications campaigns, together with partner organizations, that apply an inclusive and problem-solving approach to challenges that may include any issue from the national democratic process to local or regional challenges of an economic or social nature. The Senior Program Officer Media is expected to work with radio stations on building their capacity for radio for peace-building and to build the capacity of media organizations to promote peaceful problem-solving through training and follow-up. The position will be based in Islamabad and will include frequent travel to the field. It is a one-year contract with option for renewal. Major duties and responsibilities - While reporting directly to the Country Director, successful candidate would be responsible for;
- Design integrated behavior change communication projects in Pakistan.
- To build the capacity of SFCG and partner organizations to design and implement radio training programs.
- To work with SFCG and its partner organizations on existing communications campaigns, and arrange training workshops for radio producers and talk show hosts including design and module developments.
- To build the capacity of existing media organizations and journalists to incorporate conflict transformation approaches into their programming.
- To coordinate and implement training for media organizations across the country on their role as catalysts for positive social and behavioral change.
- To research relevant documents and write reports, develop concept papers, proposals and research briefs related to communications.
- To develop public relations activities and materials for SFCG and its projects in Pakistan.
- To manage the media team, provide leadership within SFCG
- To do all other related duties as needed.
Qualifications - Master degree in related field (communication, media studies, journalism)
- Three to five years of progressive experience in the media
- Experience in radio programming
- Demonstrated understanding of conflict issues/ conflict transformation and peace-building.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and networks with people and organizations coming from across geographical, sectarian, ethnic, and political lines
- Dynamic, creative and entrepreneurial work style
- Fluent in spoken and written Urdu and English
- Fluency in other regional languages will be a plus point
