The Assistant Brand Manager will support the Brand Manger to anticipate the future and create innovative strategies to win customer devotion and grow market share. He/she will assist the brand manager in formulating the brand’s long-term strategy as well as developing and executing marketing plans. The jobholder will work closely with the Brand Manager to define the brand’s trade merchandising, advertising and promotion strategies. The person will also assist in the management and development of various aspects of the business that directly and indirectly contribute to a brand's competitiveness and overall success.

Roles and Responsibilities:

To support the Brand Manager in the delivery of innovation and in the management of projects as per the agreed milestones/timelines and to the high quality standards set. To assist in the development of brand plans and guidelines, as well as ensure that those guidelines are followed in letter and spirit. To develop an in-depth understanding of the business environment in which the brands compete, including category segments and channels in order to build a holistic understanding of SSC consumers and shoppers.

Key Result Areas:

1. Assist in the translation of brand vision plans into brand marketing plans by ensuring that brand builders have everything they need in order to deliver an aligned brand marketing plan.
2. Analyze brand performance and brand health by constantly evaluating performance of regional support activities and in-store implementation against measurable objectives. This includes measuring the effectiveness and ROI of key activities.
3. Assist in the development of consumer insights and communication programs, working closely with the retail operations team, agencies and other functional teams such as supply chain or finance to ensure excellent delivery and implementation.
4. Aid the Band Manager in the development of guidelines and ensure that these are followed in letter and in spirit.
5. Manage small innovation projects or clearly defined sections of a bigger project coached/supervised by brand manager.
6. Support the Brand Manager in the development of brand architecture and in measuring the equity of the brand.
7. Identify solutions and make recommendations to improve effectiveness based on performance
8. Assist in developing and executing promotional initiatives to profitably increase consumption within budgeted parameters.
9. Support the development of brand messaging, marketing plans, identification of specific marketing tactics and delivery of the overall business objectives and strategies.
10. Assist the Brand manager to increase brand awareness, relevant differentiation, value, accessibility and emotional connection in order to win customers.
11. Develop and propose market penetration strategies for the company.
12. Provide support in all ongoing brand management activities.
13. Achieve results with speed and excellence by eliminating unnecessary work, motivating others to action and holding self and others accountable for results.
