Senior software test engineer uses specialized skills and experience to manage and deliver one or more complex projects. The senior software test engineer utilizes technical skills to collaborate with project stakeholders, technical team, and SQA management team to evolve testing methodologies and processes. The senior software test engineer can manage a small team of software test engineers, coaching employees on career and technical growth, overseeing the testing efforts on its team projects, and supporting the SQA management on departmental initiatives
What does this exactly mean?
- Leads the overall testing efforts on one or more projects on assigned scrum teams, which includes leading a team of 1-5 software test engineers
- Manage scrum team deliverables by being a representative of SQA in sprint planning, daily scrum, and retrospective meetings where applicable
- Provide technical guidance to software test engineers within the department on testing methodologies and best practices
- Collaborate with technology management to address tactical and strategic issues, add value to software, and to evolve processes within the software development life cycle
- Champion process improvement and efficiency gains at department level, wherever applicable
- Facilitate productive working relationship with cross-functional managers to evaluate, recommend, and implement software testing best practices
- Serves as an escalation channel on key projects, and for its direct reports
- Encourage individual career growth through educational opportunities and new assignments, and ensure appropriate cross-training between associates on key functions
- Perform administrative management functions, i.e., hiring, training, and conducting performance appraisals
