| Job Description: |
|
- Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes
- Test programmes or database, correct error and make necessary modifications
- Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure
- Design, document, and promote security ?best practices?, policies, standards and protocols
- Write and code for logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions
- Revise company definition of data as defined? in data dictionary
- Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems to serve as a source of information and advice for senior business executives
- Specify users and user access levels for each segment of database
- Develop data model describing data elements and how they are used, following procedures using template or computer software
- Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information
- Ownership of logical & physical data models, enterprise data dictionary as well the definition of meta data (Data Sources, Business Rules, Data Rules, Extract Rules and Transformations)
- Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary

Excellent problem resolution and data analysis skills
Must be able to present complex data/concepts in a clear, understandable, and meaningful way
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective meeting management; prepare and present (PowerPoint / Visio)
Enterprise architecture design skills and knowledge of various multi layer systems such SAN, NAS, Windows, networking, and applications
Strong installation / patch management and MS SQL trouble shooting skills
Solid SQL skills in developing Database views, materialized views and stored procedures
Understanding of web services (i.e. SOAP, WSDLs) and XML schema
Excellent understanding of the usability principles as they relate to applications and database design/development
