Introduction:

WaterAid is an international non-governmental organization. Our mission is to transform lives by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in the world’s poorest communities. Job Purpose:

The Campaign Officer will be responsible to assist the Campaign Manager in the development, planning and implementation of the countrywide mass media campaign for behaviour change that aims to prompt masses as well as authorities, to enhance their knowledge, attitudes and practices related to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene that will contribute to save lives and improve the health and wellbeing of communities in Pakistan. The position is based in Islamabad for an initial period till June 2016, subjected to further continuation on the donor’s approval for project funds.

Key Working Relationships

  • The Campaign Officer will assist Campaign Manager to effectively coordinate with the Campaigns Advisory Board, Core Group, sector stakeholders and media firms.
  • The Campaign Officer will also support Campaign Manger to ensure that the Campaign activities as mentioned in the Programme Cooperation Agreement (PCA) are executed and implemented according to the agreed standards and timelines.
  • Coordinating campaign activities with relevant staff of the Campaign partners including UNICEF, Plan Pakistan, key government departments at federal and provincial level and key sector stakeholders.
  • Internally the Campaign Officer will liaise with all Manager’s and other relevant staff of WaterAid in Pakistan for smooth implementation of the Campaign.
Key Accountabilities
  1. Assisting the Campaign Manager (CM) for smooth implementation of project activities within Project Contractual Agreement (PCA) framework including budget and work plan
  2. Ensuing regular meetings of the Campaign’s Advisory Board and Core Group and also documenting the meeting and sharing the minutes with the participants
  3. Assisting CM to organize the consultation process (workshops) at the federal and provincial level to give input to the campaign design and strategy
  4. Assisting CM for in preparation of ToR’s, activity and project reports
  5. Coordinating and monitoring of media firms to implement the Media Plan of the Campaign as agreed
  6. Coordinating with selected media firms to develop products/messages as per campaign design and guidelines
  7. Assisting CM for production and sourcing of the campaign materials
  8. Assisting the CM to engage and coordinate with consultants/vendors as and when required for the Campaign
  9. Undertake field visits to see the process and progress during implementation of each phase of the campaign and reporting it back to the CM
  10. Assisting CM to effectively coordinate with officials at key government departments (federal and provincial level), campaign partner organizations and other key sector stakeholders
  11. Assisting CM to regularly reporting on campaign process to donors, key sector stakeholders and Seniors Management Team of WaterAid
  12. Assiting CM in developing partnership network and facilitate meetings with them
  13. Managing and updating social media networks and blogs with project update
  14. Assisting CM in the development of notes, reports, and presentations
  15. Assisting CM in managing seminars, workshops, group discussions and stakeholders meetings
  16. Undertake any other responsibilities, tasks or activities as reasonably required as the above is given as a broad range of duties and is not intended to be a complete description of all tasks. It is important to note that the responsibilities may change to meet the evolving needs of the Campaign

Eligibilities and requirements

Education
Minimum graduate degree in mass communication, marketing, advertising, international relations, public relations and or business administration

Experience Minimum 3-6 years of proven experience in assisting and coordinating communication campaigns on social issues involving various stakeholders

Other specifications

  • Proven experience of coordinating mass media campaigns on social and behaviroal change issues
  • Ability to analyse environmental issues in terms of campaign opportunities and in terms of overall strategic objectives
  • Ability to understand the use of information in support of campaign objectives.
  • Ability to work constructively and co-operatively with other team members
  • Ability to make and maintain effective contacts and relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriate with a wide range of people both verbally and in writing
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Packages: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer and Outlook
