Key Working Relationships
Internal: Reporting to Communications Coordinator with dotted line reporting to Manager BCC. The incumbent will be part of a four member team at PQ&F unit at WA, Islamabad and will maintain working relationship with Country Representative and other members of WinS and DfID funded WASH Results Fund project (implemented in same areas).
External: The incumbent will liaise with project communications team at WA UK and Sweden. S/he will maintain professional working relationship with media, sector stakeholders, development partners and partner organisations through supervisor.
Detailed Job Description and Responsibilities
Planning
- To ensure communications plan for the H&M CF project (in conjunction with other concurrent projects by same partner) is develelopedwith clear activities and outputs/ outcomes and review them on quarterly basis with supervisor
- Support partners in a coordinated way to strengthen their communications activities harmonising with other concurrent projects by same partners and update these corresponding to length of the contract
- Support partners comminications persons to plan and produce communications related material best suited their context and communities
- Offering advicesto partners on the most appropriate communications options and practices for effective projection of the project work within communications and local stakeholders
- Support for timely and effective execution of communications activities as delineated inthe communications plan of H&M CF project and the work plans of each implementing partner (IP)
- To support partners in developing required IEC material specifically for the projectand celebration of national and international events
- Facilitating media trips to project intervention areas for the projection of project work
- To monitor and manage media coverage generated
- To build and maintain excellent working relationships with key media players, journalists and broadcasters.
- Maintain and use organisational digital platforms to effectively promote best practices, messages and events.
- Managing and participating in the events, campaigns, dissemination of project learning etc.
- Maintain effective liaison with WAUK and Sweden communications focal persons to cater regular communications requirements related to this project
- Support in managing key donor or international delagates’ visits to project sites
- Collect and gather pre &post scenarios,human interest stories/ case studies, photos and videos of the project that are newsworthy and important for use in donor reports, WA publications and publictation on print and social media
- Support in compilation of promotional materials ensuring all are in line with project requirements
- Ensure promotion of WaterAid’s brand and donor visibility mainly at partners level and within WA’s communication
- Manage relationships with quality designers and printers
- Support in documentation of events, programmes and meetings wherever necessary
- Contribute to development of project as well as WA’s regular reports
- Identify needs of the partner organisations, co-ordinate for capacity building programmes in relation to communications
Others
Work in the best interest of WaterAid and project beneficiaries/ stakeholders
- Promote importance of value for money as part of organisational culture
- Offer volunteer services to perform team wide official, social and group activities
- Any other official assignments as proposed by the supervisor
Essential
- Masters degree in mass communications or any social development discipline
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in communications of development projects preferably WASH related projects
- Excellent computer skills especially in operating MS Office package and Adobe Photoshop. Use of other graphical software like Coraldraw etc. will be an added advantage.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Urdu languages. Knowledge and understanding of Sindhi and Siraiki is desirable.

- Good facilitation and community interaction skills
- Good conceptual and analytical skills
- Understanding and commitment of the WASH related aspects
- Exposure and working experience in in remote rural and harsh climatic conditions
