The Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) is dedicated to supporting the development of democratic systems of government. Its focus is sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, the Balkans, Eastern Europe and increasingly Asia.
The Foundation was founded in 1992 and is sponsored by the UKs Foreign and Commonwealth Office. It works to strengthen the institutions of democracy, primarily by supporting the development of parliaments, political party structures and civil society organizations. It is uniquely placed to draw directly on the expertise of Westminsters political parties in all its work.
WFD is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Expert Capacity Building and Training to manage and deliver WFDs component in the Improving Parliamentary Performance (IPP) programme. This is an EU supported parliamentary strengthening programme led by the British Council. WFDs role is central to meeting the objectives of the IPP, working across the strategic priorities of supporting the institution, its members and staff for it to fulfill its legislative, representative, scrutiny and oversight functions.
