Duties and Responsibilities:

The Communication Officer will be responsible for communication activities under the campaign. To this end s/he is expected to undertake the following main activities:

  • Develop and manage the communication and outreach strategy including and not limited to reaching out to citizens through field activities.
  • Undertake the media related activities including and not limited to development of media products, coordinating and liaising with media persons including journalists, editors, senior columnists, owners of media channels/newspapers and with other stakeholder
  • Look after the publications and other information dissemination materials development including development of advocacy materials such as policy briefs, case studies, research reports/ papers, Project updates, occasional papers, newsletters, etc.
  • Plan and organize different events such as citizen hearings, seminars, press briefings, meetings etc.
  • Generate timely minutes of all meetings attended. Generate timely reports on all trainings facilitated.
  • Organize media events such as: press conferences, interviews of key Project staff and stakeholders on public & private channels of TV & radio, newspapers, magazines, and journals, etc.
  • Supervise the development of publications – hardcopy, multimedia and/ or web-based, and provide quality control
  • Ensure that regular publications (case studies, research reports/ papers, Project updates, occasional papers, newsletters, etc.) are printed, and updated (in case of website) in a timely and consistent manner
  • Provide support in establishing effective knowledge management mechanisms
  • Support in developing monthly progress reports, donor reports and other related reports in close coordination with Campaigns Manager.
  • Building networking and maintain contacts with local partners, relevant NGOs and civil society groups working for the same purpose.

Skills

Required qualification and experience:

Preferably Master’s Degree

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in development communication related work.

Demonstrated experience of event management, development of different communication materials both print and web based including and not limited to reports, publications etc.

Desirable Skills

Excellent communication in English language both in verbal and written

Well versed with computer use especially with the use of publishing formats software’s, social media, website management, indesign etc.
