Project Development Assistant

The Project Development Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Project Development Manager and is responsible to support the Project Development Manager as well as Officers as requested in all Project Development matters for the Islamabad office and areas according to ACTED guidelines.

ACTED has been present in Pakistan since 1993 and currently supports communities in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Azad Jammu Kashmir. ACTED Pakistan programmes range from short-term emergency responses to recovery and rehabilitation, as well as longer-term development initiatives. ACTED strategy is to target vulnerable communities affected by natural and conflict-related disasters as well as lack of socio-economic development.

ABOUT PROJECT DEVELOPMENT (PD) DEPARTMENT :

The PD department supports the successful operations in ACTED Pakistan through three core roles:
Coordination – developing and maintaining timely, accurate and effective mechanisms internal and external liaison, reporting and follow up including advocacy;
Communication – leading the creation, collation and publishing of articles, posters, leaflets and other materials for external communications in line with donor and HQ requirements;
Project development and management – organizing proposal development and submission, internal project coordination and donor reporting as per contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

The Project Development Assistant supports the overall operation of the Project Development Department through completion of tasks as assigned by the Project Development Manager or delegated Project Development Officer. This may include (but not be limited to):
Timely compilation of reports for donors, authorities or clusters including development of templates and timelines as well as inter department coordination as necessary;
Day-to-day oversight of the ACTED Pakistan communications and visibility activities including regular flash news and articles, as well as office and field visibility;
Development of project proposals, concept notes, amendments and strategies under the guidance of the Project Development Manager;
Representation of ACTED Pakistan in the meetings of clusters, partners, donors and other external stakeholders;
Preparation and minuting of internal coordination and other meetings;
Follow up and oversight of assigned projects to ensure streamlined implementation and reporting;
Occasional field visits to support general operations of Project Development and as agreed on an ad hoc basis.

About the ideal candidate

This position is designed to develop the necessary skills to develop into a Project Development Officer position over time. As such, technical knowledge is not a prerequisite. However, the following skills/qualities are required for the role:

Skills and knowledge

Excellent computer skills (windows, word, excel, email);
Advance proficiency in verbal and written communication in English.
