Safety measures for blood sample collection;

Identification and Labeling of collected blood sample;

Storage and safety transportation (including maintaining temperature) of blood from remote areas to designated labs;

To ensure complete identification of household members and consent related documentation especially member’s full name, Unique Id, data and time of sampling & initials of collector (list of selected household will be provided including information regarding name and address);

To ensure proper appropriate identification & biohazard labelling on Tubes and containers manually or by bar code labels

Draw blood sample collection as per requirement into labeled tubes using universal safety precautions

Manage the waste especially syringe through syringe cutter/sharp container

Inspection of sample before transport; look for any signs of hemolysis and contamination;

Putting tubes in cold box or cooler, transport collected sample within 48 hours to the designated points

Maintain the temperature in the cold box or cooler using a mercury or digital thermometer every three hours

Fill specimen transfer log sheet of blood sample collection
