CARE International in Pakistan (CIP) is humanitarian agency, implementing emergency response programme in return areas of FATA agencies. CARE requires Paramedic Technician to implement the RAPID funded Health project in North Waziristan Agency, FATA. The position is responsible to ensure the maintenance of medicine and medical equipment’s stock and storage as per required standards and guidelines. Timely place request for pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies and drugs, maintaining stock, storing and handling it properly.

Key Responsibilities:

Paramedic Technician will be based in North Waziristan Agency and will ensure consistent high quality health services under RAPID funded project.

§  To assist doctor in examination and treatment of patients.

§  Keep and maintain daily pharmacy register.

§  Prepare daily consumption report.

§  Prepare and keep daily, weekly and monthly consumption documents

§  Follow the advices of the medical doctor in filling out medical prescriptions.

§  Maintain the stock register and the minimum stock level of medicine as per need

§  Provide regular updates of medical stock, drug consumption and monthly requests to project manager.

§  Provide feedback to the medical doctor on issues related to ensure the maintenance of medicine and medical equipment’s stock and storage as per required standards and guidelines.

§  Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage and proper medication storage.

§  drug management, expiry dates, stock and monthly supply of health facilities

§  Ensure quality control of medicine and medical equipment in the health facilities

§  Provide health promotion training to the community during drug distribution.

§  To prepare monthly demands for each location and get approval from Team leader.

§  Send monthly stock report to team leader.

§  Once monthly supplies for health facility are prepared, ensure lists are physically verified in the office and delivered and checked at health facility level.

§  Proper control of stock card, physical inventory and proper storage of drugs.

§  Supervise and monitor field Pharmacy.

§  To maintain accurate record of all stock held in pharmacy and to update these daily before closure of health facility.

§  Fulfil any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Working Conditions

Technician position is purely field based and require regular field visit to target communities or BHUs. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Degree, diploma or nursing related field
  • Skills of I/M, I/V injections, ASD and N/G
  • Ability to perform minor surgical procedures
  • B.P monitoring, temperature recording
  • 2 / 3 year of relevant experience

§  Strong communication skills in Pushto.

§  Must be aware and sensitive to the culture, norms and values of FATA.

§  Ability to solve problemes and work independently in field. 

§  Strong personal, organizational and time management skills with the capacity to adapt to a changing environment and work under tight deadlines.

§  Ability to work well under pressure and in response to changing needs.

§  Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of disadvantaged populations

§  Demonstrated experience of integrating gender and diversity issues into public health promotion

Should speak and understand Pushtu of North Waziristan agency and South KP.
