In addition to the technical responsibilities that the position requires, a Principal Engineer mentors junior and senior staff to ensure their success.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Principal Engineer position will primarily be responsible for supporting and deploying technologies within 100 – 1000 user, network infrastructures. Additional responsibilities include assistance with a multi-tenant Infrastructure-as-a-Service, multi-tenant Exchange, Lync, and SharePoint services, and datacenter operations and maintenance.

Key technologies that will be encountered within this job role are:

• Microsoft Server and Applications

• Including: Active Directory (including multi-site and multiple one-way and two-way trusts), Exchange Server, Hyper-V (System Center Virtual Machine Manager experience a plus), Failover Clustering (knowledge of Cluster Shared Volumes a plus)• VMware vSphere

• Including: ESXi installation and maintenance, vCenter Server

• Citrix Technologies:

• Including: XenDesktop/XenApp version 7.x, Storefront, Netscaler, UPM, XenServer

• Dell PowerEdge server hardware

• Dell Storage Systems including EqualLogic, Compellent, and Powervault

• Knowledge of additional enterprise storage systems a plus

• High availability of services at storage, virtualization and application level (includes SAN replication, VMware, GSLB concepts, various clustering and failover technologies for business continuity)

• Networking technologies:

• Dell S and N series switches, Cisco routers/switches/firewalls, SonicWALL firewalls, Fortinet firewalls and switches Other desired technologies in this position that are big pluses:

• Kaseya or other automation software

• Connectwise PSA

• Powershell Scripting

• 7+ years of IT experience managing or having been a part of an IT department of a 100+ person business

• Proven track record of effective project management and/or leadership roles in complex migration and implementation projects

• Management of medium to large Microsoft Windows infrastructures leveraging Active Directory

• Proven track record of troubleshooting complex infrastructures and utilizing team members and additional expertise to achieve desired result

• Knowledge of Microsoft and/or VMware clustering technologies, load balancing and replication services

• Demonstrated experience in creating documentation of designs and solution

• Exposure to various facets of data center and branch office build-out including planning, designing and implementation of Microsoft, VMware and Citrix technologies

• Ability to effectively communicate complex enterprise solutions to internal staff and clients

Additional Responsibilities

• Resolve escalated issues not only inside his/her own expertise but also willingness to accept challenges outside of expertise and comfort zone

• Provide training to peers and promote teamwork

• Work well with all department members, and company personnel. Keep communications clear, concise and consistent. Utilize all company resources including cell, laptop, IM and email effectively

• Provide exemplary client communication skills

• Work on multiple projects or tasks well with a sense of urgency and completing tasks on schedule while maintaining SLA and uptime

• Able to quickly assess situations that require escalation to vendor support

• College degree is required

• Certifications desired:

• VMware VCP

• Microsoft Enterprise Admin and/or Solution Expert

• Citrix XenDesktop
