In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining fiber infrastructure with a strong focus on field operations to ensure network reliability and efficiency. You will coordinate network activities, monitor system health, and support both routine and emergency operations within a telecom environment that demands precision and responsiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily operations and maintenance of GPON, metro, and carrier networks to ensure seamless connectivity.
- Identify and document network rehabilitation needs to improve overall performance and reduce downtime.
- Coordinate with internal teams to develop and implement emergency rerouting plans, minimizing service disruptions.
- Monitor ring completion progress closely to prevent network outages and maintain service continuity.
- Log and escalate low power issues across various network segments for timely resolution.
- Manage fiber pair availability for corporate, carrier, and internal use, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Liaise with local authorities to guarantee network protection and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in preparing P-deposit bills and maintain accurate fiber documentation to support billing and auditing processes.
- Monitor and report on the health of aerial fiber infrastructure, identifying potential risks early.
- Compile daily and weekly reports covering cable cuts, PMR tasks, and other critical operational activities.
- Actively participate in PMR activities such as joint box inspections, sag measurements, and loop checks to maintain network integrity.
- Support updates to GIS/KMZ files for new fiber route deployments, ensuring accurate mapping and documentation.
- Track inventory of tools and materials, ensuring timely restocking to avoid operational delays.
- Assist with the PAT process for new fiber deployments, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Engage in on-the-job training to stay current with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and system updates.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) or Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) in Electrical, Telecom, or related fields.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in fiber operations or telecom operations and maintenance (O&M).
