Horizon Technologies is looking for a Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer for one of our partners in the US. The ideal candidate will be responsible to handle all network-related problems and works to resolve them. They analyze the problem and, depending on problem complexity and resolution time constraints, either solve it or coordinate with seniors and colleagues. The NOC Engineer utilizes support from technical experts within the organization and third parties, as required, to resolve a problem. They take responsibility for handling incidents proactively and resolving them through completion or escalation. Upon successful resolution, they finalize the task according to company policies for incident management. Job duties also include recording the problems encountered and techniques used to solve them for future reference.

NOC Engineers should be capable of solving a variety of network problems, including those that may not have standard resolution methods. In such cases, NOC staff should be able to apply methods based solely on their own technical knowledge. This position requires a person who can think ahead to implement proactive measures. The ability to grasp information in several formats, including print, verbal and pictorial representations, is important.

NOC Engineers must demonstrate excellent technical knowledge with a minimum of 3 year of IT/Network support experience and be proficient in the following skill sets:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must be available to work on a rotating shift schedule of 24/7.
  • NOC analysts monitor network security, isolate potential security vulnerabilities, and remedy security issues that could compromise the network. This includes running diagnostics programs on networks to pinpoint problems and monitor overall network health.
  • NOC analysts replace malfunctioning or underperforming hardware connected to the network.
  • Perform network troubleshooting to diagnose and isolate complex network problems
  • Troubleshoot server hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Must be able to multi-task, have outstanding analytical abilities, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Be highly motivated
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • NOC analysts write scripts and design automated network functions to increase efficiency
  • NOC analysts write regular analytics and network infrastructure reports.
  • Good Spoken and written English is a MUST!

Required Skills

  • Complete understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Extensive hands-on experience in helpdesk operations or NOC
  • Excellent communication skills. Fluency in English, speaking will be required.
  • Comprehension of troubleshooting hardware/software network issues procedures with an emphasis on TCP/IP based infrastructures and trouble ticketing systems
  • Ability to multitask and work independently with limited guidance
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems with a strong sense of urgency
  • Three (3) years of NOC or technical contact center experience to include providing direct customer technical support for high-speed data and computing products in lieu of a degree - Required
  • Associate level certification from Cisco, Juniper, etc. – Required
  • Working knowledge of fault management including DOCSIS diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures – Preferred
  • Experience with carrier-grade voice switching platforms and protocols – Preferred
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP and SNMP protocols – Preferred
  • Basic understanding of the industry-standard routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, Multicast, STP, 802.3x, etc.)- Preferred
  • Working knowledge of MPLS (RSVP-TE, LDP, FEC, MP-BGP, etc.) – Preferred
  • Working knowledge of VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, MGCP, etc.) – Preferred
  • Working knowledge of IPTV networks and MPEG audio/video standards. – Preferred
  • Working knowledge of  GPON technologies and FTTx architectures - Preferred
  • Working knowledge of video and voice diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures – Preferred
