The Dev Ops Engineer / AWS Systems Administrator (Engineer) is responsible for the operation of internal and production company environments and systems. The Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for the administration, support, stability, and security of enterprise application systems, servers and networks. The Engineer will ensure infrastructure security and stability across all locations in the organization. We currently use AWS for hosting, and a small internal local network for development.
Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Maintain and administer local (local network) and enterprise network (AWS)
- Server patching and monitoring
- Troubleshooting network, server, and web application issues
- Experience with different Linux flavours like Linux, ubuntu, CentOS
- Firewall, Load Balancer, LAN/WAN routers and carrier management
- Capacity planning and providing recommendations to improve systems and network configurations
- Docker/kubernetes configuration
- Nginx/Apache
Experience required for this position
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT or related field, or equivalent in work experience in lieu of degree
- Minimum of one year experience in Linux/Unix System Administration preferred
- 1 year of experience as full time DevOps engineer
- Professional experience managing/operating production systems on AWS
- Good grasp of fundamental security concepts
Should be familiar with several of the following:
- Cloud Services (AWS, Rackspace)
- Unix shell and system administrator level knowledge of PHP
- Desktop Administration (Patching, Software Deployment,
- inventory)
- DNS configuration, Domain forwarding, SSL
- Network protocols HTTP, SMTP, NFS, DNS, SSH, LDAP, etc.
- OS Level patching & package management
- Network monitoring
- Databases (MySQL/MariaDB, MongoDB)
- Atlassian suite (Jira, Bamboo, Fisheye, Confluence) preferred
- Experience in highly available web environment with on-call responsibilities
- Ability to interact with others in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
