What the first 30-60-90 days in the job will look like?

-Within 30 days you will:
Attend and graduate from our company-wide on boarding process along with detailed orientation program where you will learn Jazz’s values, business, and products. Meet with the Technology team to understand the strategy of the function in line with Organization strategy and company road map. Have meetings, with members of other teams to understand how each function at Jazz contributes to the overall success. Understand the function and processes of DBA Team department within Technical, role and responsibilities of team within organization.
 
-Within 60 days, you will:
Get an introduction to Jazz Databases, different types of databases, mainly Oracle (Single instance, RAC, One Node RAC), MySQL, MS SQL, Cassandra & other Non RDBMS databases along with Oracle Applications that are currently deployed at Jazz. Develop concrete understanding of Jazz Change Management Policy with respect to Databases and associated applications. High-level overview of how DBA Tasks are being monitored and their fixes. Go through all MOP & SOP of DBA Team. Collaborate with Internal People within Technical (Peer departments), stakeholders (Technology, MFS, and Commercial) and Vendor.
 
-Within 90 days to onwards you will:
Develop thorough competency on Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing, and production usage. Perform the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases. Perform tuning of the database instances. Install new versions of the ORACLE/MySQL/MS SQL/CASSENDRA RDBMS/NON-RDBMS databases and its tools. Plan and implement backup and recovery of the database. Implements and enforces security for all of the Databases.  Perform database re-organizations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum up time of the database. Provide technical support to application development teams. Manage 24*7 up time of databases and craft innovative solutions as per global best practices.
 
A bit about you:
We are looking for someone who has already worked for a reputed Telecom Organisation or a Multinational company having similar role. We are also looking for someone who has excellent communication skills to be able to promote the department and technology portfolio with professionalism, maturity, and a balanced, holistic view of any competing viewpoints
 
A bit about us:
The Database Administrator Team is part of BSS Infra Structure Team and includes end-to-end database related planning, installation, maintenance and Operations, mainly focused on new technologies deployment, keeping databases availability 24*7 round the year, fault free and up to date. We are focused towards aligning learning and contribute to business effectively while aligning their behaviors to Jazz values.

The structure of the team you will join is:
07 members team (including the Manager) with no sub teams.  Main tasks include planning, designing and execution, bringing innovation and adopting new technologies to improve efficiency of the databases. 

The two (02) main priorities of the team as a whole are:
·       Improve processes through automation which should be industry best
·       Delivery of services as per agreed Service Level Agreements and KPIs

To collaborate and produce effective business results, the role requires
Proactive, having strong troubleshooting skill 
The ability to build strong relationships with Internal/External Teams

The two (02) specific tasks that team was working on in the last 6 months with results.
Successful migration of Billing system from obsoleted to updated environment
Prepaid Data migration from Warid to Jazz
 
The two (02) must have technologies the candidate should have. 
Excellent understanding of Oracle Technologies
Excellent understanding of MySQL Technologies

Essential skills must have: 
Flexibility to adopt assignment
Analytical Skills
Good technical proficiency, literacy skills and a competent Database Administrator
