Overview
We are looking for someone who will run farm operations including supervision and management of crop and fish production to maximize yields. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in Agriculture with both relevant experience and qualification and be looking to apply his skills and experience in the new environment. Great people’s skill is an important part of the role. We are a small team and this person will be responsible for ensuring that all farm staff is working effectively for both supervise and unsupervised tasks. He will be involved in both plant and fish element of the farm. Ideal candidate must be willing to learn and get stuck in.

Responsibilities include
Managing a team of 5-10 people on the farm
Oversee the initial construction and startup of the farm using outside vendors (Oct 2017)
Planning of all seeding and harvesting activities
Managing all on farm activities
Stock controls
Ensuring that all farm activities are carried out in line with standard operating procedures and health and safety requirement.
Keep accurate and detailed records tracking system components including, but not limited to, pH, ammonia, nitrates, dissolved oxygen, bacteria level, temperature, feed amounts, growth rates and population
Environment control system management
Oversee farm repairs and maintenance of equipment as required
Pest control
Fish farm management - Maintaining the health of the system and health and growth of the fish, including daily fish feeding, harvesting monitoring and maintaining main tanks.
Liaising with the sales staff to make sure that they know what produce is going to be available and when
Providing regular farm operations report to the management team
Staff training
Quarterly reporting on targets and delivery
Monitor the operating costs vs budget including vendor invoicing
Ensure aquaponics farm system follows and adheres to food safety plans, strict biosecurity measures, SOPs, and good safety standards
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Experience in commercial horticulture
Management of a small team
Agricultral Sciences Degree (MS)
Preferable
Experience in fish farming
knowledgeable in hydrology, fluid dynamics, and aquatics biology would be an asset
Experience with Leafy salads, herbs, microgreens, tomatoes and bell peppers
