Social Worker - CP

The Social Worker is responsible for work on the helpline for providing child protection case management and referral services to at-risk children and / or those survivors of violence and abuse.    

Duties and Responsibilities  

• Ensure 1121 child protection helpline is functional during the working hours and no call is left unattended.
• Ensure that all calls on 1121 child protection helpline are properly received, attended and documented as per the prescribed modules and tools.
• Ensure proper determination of the eligibility of the referrals and calls received on child protection helpline as per the standards and guidelines prescribed in the technical package for child protection case management and referral system.
• Ensure proper assessment of the child protection cases eligible for case management and referral services and conduct and provide services as per the agreed case plan with the child and his / her caregivers and referrers.
• Ensure that all eligible child protection cases are properly guided and supported to the relevant services providers including Child Protection Units for required child protection and welfare services.
• Ensure that all eligible cases are properly documented in the child protection information management system and their individual files and also maintained as per the documentation and data confidentiality protocols.
• Maintain and regularly update the online service directory for the 1121 child protection helpline.
• Maintain and properly use the text and voice messaging facilities in the 1121 child protection helpline for awareness raising as well as direct communication with the eligible child protection cases, their caregivers, referrers and relevant services providers, as appropriate.
• Generate reports on data produced from calls on 1121 child protection helpline on regular basis and as and when required.
• Support promoting the 1121 child protection helpline among communities and service providers through various communication modalities including social media.
• Conduct mapping of relevant helplines in KP and Pakistan especially those dealing with child rights and human rights violations and build synergies and collaboration among them.
• Ensure that government partners and other relevant stakeholders are aware of relevant policy guidelines, technical standards and relevant commitments that the Government/concerned authorities have undertaken under international human rights law related to children.
• Ensure that 1121 child protection helpline provides services in-line with applicable standard of ethics, code of conduct, policy guidance, technical standards, and human rights legal obligations.
• Make sure that the principle of DO-NO-HARM and data confidentiality are comprehensively integrated into all aspects of the child protection case management and referral services provided through 1121 child protection helpline.

Essential Requirements:

• Master degree in social work, sociology, anthropology and relevant field of social sciences.
• Minimum of 5 years professional experience in social intervention projects particularly those related to social work services for the protection and welfare of children and their caregivers.
• solid understanding and skills in social work practices especially in services related to the protection and welfare of vulnerable children and their caregivers, especially those helplines.
• Good communication/interpersonal skills & experience in working effectively in a multi-sectoral environment.
• Sensitivity to diverse opinions and difficulties arising from differing social and cultural perceptions and manage to reconcile conflicts.
• Solid / proven written and verbal communication, especially report writing.
• Good coordination, negotiation and mediation skills.
