Software Development Manager

Job Functions:

• Conduct architecture/design/code reviews for software to create high-quality, maintainable software
• Automated Unit Testing and Test-Driven Development.
• Skilled in upgrading old technology stacks to transition to leading technologies
• Demonstrated ability to recognize business needs, analyze requests, recommend solid technical solutions, and lead in delivering the solution
• Proven experience creating design documents and assisting with the architecture.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and relentless attention to detail
• Manage and serve as a mentor to developers to drive the adoption of best practices and expand the organization’s knowledge
• Partner with the Test Leads to guide the overall test strategy and test execution
• Refine the user stories and implementing complex business rules into the application/product as prioritized for delivery
• Able to deliver software in a highly compliant and regulated environment for the Banking Industry.
• Assist in defining the process models to enable the adoption of DevOps methodologies.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy, able to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines
• Will be responsible for the success of a team, delivering accurate routes, timetables, and core services to all our products, with mission-critical performance and availability.
• Work with team leaders and the Product Owner to clarify, elaborate, and iterate on the team’s goals.
• Engage with the team leaders and teams to help them move faster, more efficiently, and at high quality in a continuous delivery manner.
• Proactively identify issues and opportunities and collaborate with team leaders and functions to achieve positive outcomes in processes and code quality.
• Create development plans and manage progress (creating, tracking, reporting and remediating)
• Lead full software lifecycle from requirements through design, development, deployment and support
• Own product technical roadmap, liaising with product management, clients and other stakeholders.
• Use agile techniques to ensure software quality in continuous deployment environment.
• Personal development, mentoring and growth of your team members to encourage, support and enable them to achieve their full potential.
• Delegate responsibility where applicable and engage in participative decision-making to empower the team leader.

You portray a strong sense of good practice with respect to development techniques and system architecture.

You should demonstrate a high-quality product that can pass critical peer review, and to work under a high-pressure and timeline-driven environment.

Required Skill set:  

• Candidate should have a mastery of the Java language and a proven track record of applying it to complex enterprise systems.
• Cloud provider experience with AWS
• A product-oriented, customer-focused emphasis on rapid delivery of value to production.
• A proven track record: 
• As a technical manager/development lead in a fast-moving (ideally internet) company.
• Of leading teams in complex technical scenarios to successful completion, resulting in significant business impact.
• Of using agile/lean methodologies for continuous delivery and improvement.
• Leading multiple mid to large-sized teams.

• System and data security and integrity.

Skills

• Knowledge of message brokers such as Kafka, Rabbitt MQ and containerization tooling such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with one or more of the following technologies: Java, Python, .Net, Mongo DB, Rabbit MQ, SQL, SQL Server, Elastic Search (Java is the language of choice for our new services being deployed at scale).
• Experience with large scale, large volume technical solutions deployed to AWS or Microsoft Azure
• Web Services: REST, SOA, Microservices, Jetty, Jersey, Apache, Tomcat, and Wicket.
• Software development tools (Jira, maven, git, Jenkins, Docker).
