Our client, a progressive firm of Chartered Accountants in the UK are looking for an experienced bookkeeper.

You will be responsible for a portfolio of clients including limited companies and sole traders.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

General bookkeeping duties, mainly using Xero cloud accounting software.
Management and reconciliation of bank accounts, cash and credit card statements.
Preparing VAT returns and reporting to HMRC.
Resolving bookkeeping queries and liaising directly with clients.
Preparing month end journals.
Assisting the payroll team at peak times during the year.
Assisting with the preparation of data to support annual tax returns.

Requirements

The successful candidate must have at least 3 years of bookkeeping in practice or industry and be comfortable dealing directly with clients. The following skills and experience are required:

Thorough knowledge of Xero and Receipt Bank processes (Xero Advisor accreditation is essential).
Good knowledge of VAT (essential).
Payroll knowledge (essential) (the practice uses BrightPay payroll bureau software).
CIS administration (preferred).
Level 4 AAT qualification (preferred).
Ability to work to month end deadlines (essential).
Ability to work with minimal supervision (essential).
Knowledge of other cloud and desk top accounting software would be an advantage.

This role is full time (37.5 hours per week) working to UK hours.
